Due
to ongoing reforms in the health sector,
Kairuki Hospital decided to introduce a new service of removing body tumors
without surgery (Non invasive treatment) By using HIFU technology. HIFU stands
for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound which uses sound waves to dissolve tumors
without, piercing, sleeping pills and blood transfusions
This unique health service is only available in
four countries in africa located in south africa, Nigeria, Eqypt and now in
Tanzania.
All tumors that can be reached and seen in this
machine are treated, including cervical tumors, breast tumors, liver and
pancreatic cancer tumors, prostate cancer tumors, bone tumors, etc
This treatment is targeting to the hard tumors
with no liquids by directing heat to the affected area.
The duration of treatment can vary from 4 to 8
hours, depending on the number/ size of tumours and patients are typically
monitored 24 hours post treatment and then he/she will be assessed after three
months.
There are several advantage of HIFU treatment
including requiring no surgical incision into your body, and it does not use
radiation and it protect other part because it focuses on the targeted area and
a patient is quickly recovered means that he/she can be treated today and within
a short time can return to his/her normal routine.
The cost of HIFU treatment is depending on the number, the size and location of the tumors and for the patient with big insurance coverage they can get an invoice that are taken to the insurance company for approval to be covered.
